Creatv MicroTech Receives Japanese Patent for Cancer Screening

The issued patent covers broad clinical applications strengthening the company’s global patent portfolio.

Dec 3, 2018

Creatv MicroTech, Inc. (Creatv) has received notice from the Japanese Patent Office that its patent covering numerous clinical applications for the detection of cancer associated macrophage-like cells (CAMLs) in cancer patient blood samples has been issued. Clinical applications of the CAML biomarker include cancer screening, various cancer diagnostics, and early detection of disease recurrence. Approved claims cover all solid tumors. Similar patents have been issued in Europe and Australia.

CAMLs are giant polynucleated cells that are found in the blood of cancer patients, but not in healthy individuals. They are present in all solid tumors studied to date, including epithelial cancers, sarcomas, melanoma, and neuroblastoma. The unique CAMLs are found along with circulating tumor cells (CTCs). However, CAMLs are found at all stages of cancer in including Stage 1, unlike CTCs, which are rarely found in the early stages of cancer.

Creatv developed its CellSieve™ microfiltration platform for capturing and analyzing CTCs and CAMLs. The patented filtration process removes all red blood cells and more than 99.9% of white blood cells. The rapid and gentle process protects the delicate cells, and the low fluorescent background enables high quality imaging.

About Creatv MicroTech

Creatv Bio is a cancer screening and cancer diagnostics company providing testing services to patients and to pharma companies to support drug development from its laboratory in NJ. Creatv's scientists were the first to publish on CAMLs found in the blood of cancer patients. LifeTracDx® blood tests have an array of clinical applications including predicting response to a new therapy in 30 days, providing companion/complementary diagnostics such as PD-L1 using blood samples, providing information about aggressiveness of the cancer, detection of minimal residual disease, early detection of cancer recurrence, and cancer screening.
